Assessment

Good strategy starts with understanding where you are now.

Our assessment takes a broad overview of domain modeling and design in your project. We look for strengths and weaknesses, what is working well and what is holding you back, at both strategic and tactical levels.

What Happens

We conduct a survey of your project, which generally takes a week, sometimes two, depending on logistics and the nature of the project, but can be as short as three days, if focused on a specific question. This survey includes

• Observations of the project’s work.
• Interviews with developers, managers and domain experts.
• Review of samples of code and design documents.

The purpose is to discover

• The patterns of knowledge exchange, both technical and of the domain.
• The actual process of model, design and code refinement.
• The connection between models and implementation.
• The use of language on the team and by people in different roles.
• The clarity of relationships between different subsystems.

You will receive an objective view of the state of domain design on your project. The report will outline options for next steps. The report can be verbal or written, confidential or shared with the team, as required by the situation.
